American shock rocker Rob Zombie is set to release his first studio album in five years, with the awesomely titled “The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy” set to land in March 2021 through Nuclear Blast. When announcing the album, Zombie treated us to the first single from the upcoming release, “The Triumph of King Freak (A Crypt of Preservation and Superstition).”

And what a single it is. Zombie could not have chosen a better flagship track to lure us in and make us hungry for his new album. It has everything we have come to love about his music. Heavy guitars, catchy beat, with expertly horror-themed lyrics to make us cringe and grin in equal amounts. Not only is this one hard and heavy, but it is also peppy and fun with a little rap-rock even thrown in for good measure.

The masterful lyrics delivered in Zombie’s trademark growls craft the perfect image of “King Freak” as a monster straight from Hell, someone we instantly find ourselves loving to hate, as is the norm for the beasts Zombie fashions for us to enjoy. His vast knowledge and devout passion for all things horror and sci-fi continues to shine through his work, affording him the ability to shock, scare and thoroughly entertain us seemingly effortlessly. “King Freak” reminds us that nobody does horror metal better than Rob Zombie.

Zombie’s last album “The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser” dropped in 2016 and was more musical gold from this genius visionary. In the years since, he has been quieter on the musical front, spending more time on his filmmaking. “31” was released in 2016, and the long and eagerly awaited conclusion to his Firefly trilogy, “3 From Hell” was released in 2019 much to the thrill of fans of the series.

He is one of those rare artists that can deftly move between music and filmmaking, demonstrating a level of perfection and expertise across both artforms that is not commonly seen. Zombie is a guy who loves what he does and is just sensational at it.

The news that his seventh album is coming, and soon, has sparked waves of excitement on social media. And if the rest of the album is even half as amazing as “King Freak,” then we have another brilliant Rob Zombie masterpiece to look forward to.
