Spotify have extended the period in which U.S users can listen to free music. On Thusday they revealed that they will extend the free unlimited music period on the desktop version of the application.
However, if users want to do this with the mobile, TV or set-top box versions they still have to pay, users will need a premium account to listen to unlimited music. The premium account allows the users to access better sound quality, also offline playback. They are now offering users a 30-day trial which allows users to try out the service for 30 days on their smartphone.
The company have not revealed how long the free listening period will last for. After the free period there will be a 10 hours per month and or up to five plays for any one song. The company announced that they were so overwhelmed and excited by the U.S reaction to Spotify that they have decided to extend the free listening period indefinetly. It was also made clear that this is an extension, and it is not a permanent fixture.
Spotify will announce when the free listening period will end. Until then U.S users can continue to listen to unlimited music on Spotify.
