Rdio Appears in UK: Rival Music Listening Service to Spotify
- in Latest
Music service Rdio has appeared in the UK. The listening service which is a rival of Spotify originates from the USA, now gives UK residents the opportunity to sign up and take advantage of a free trial.
According to reports the makers of Rdio (Skype) made no official announcement of the music service being available in the UK, instead a buzz of interest appeared on social networks like Twitter.
The music service lets people stream music and listen to a limited amount of songs every month, however several paid options extend this and offer other features. If you are listening on a PC and do not listen to large amounts of songs the free option may suffice.
Rdio has app's for all the latest smart phones and devices, iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android Mac and others. However if you want to unlock mobile app's and integrate with streaming devices from Roku and Sonos you will have to opt for a paid option at £10 a month. Both Rdio and Spotify have very similar payment upgrades.
There is speculation as to whether Rdio is a better service than Spotify, to many its probably down to personal preference. Lately Spotify has developed a bigger name in a relatively short space of time. Rdio was originally launched in 2010, since then its appeared in many countries including Canada, Australia, New Zealand amongst others. Finally its hit the UK and France.
If you are already a Spotify member maybe its worth downloading Rdio and take advantage of its free trial to test it yourself at http://www.rdio.com/home/
