The latest microchip technology has just been used in wrist bands for UK's Wakestock festival in Wales. Designed to cut ques and weed out fake tickets its the first time this technology has been seen in the UK for festivals. Not everyone is happy about the new move though. UK singer Ed Sheeran and others have spoke out about this latest move.

Although the organizers say the benefits are massive, many say that the wrist bands are uncomfortable and make the whole festival experience less exciting. Many like to go back to basics at festivals, camping out, preparing food on gas stoves etc, a state of the art electronic wrist band which transmits details does not seem fitting to the average festival go-er.

One of the headliners of Wakestock Ed Sheeran said to the BBC:

"It's always good to try and push the boundaries of technology but I don't know if it'll work with festivals. Festivals work without technology."

Fans also seem concerned about the wristbands motives and uses. Some think it could be used to track people around festivals invading privacy etc and or be used to influence their behavior etc by studying their movements. The makers of the device deny that the device is used for anything like that though. However concerns have been risen in technology that works similar in other applications.

Its not all bad though, the makers say that its a much cleaner experience and you can pre top your band to buy food. pay for items and of course they integrate with social networks to check in 'Tweet' etc. No need to lose money and if the band goes missing it can easily be canceled.

Certain smartphones now have the same technology too, organizers hope that in the future it can become mobile enabled. Fans hope that funding this new technology wont effect the price of events.

What are your thoughts on this new technology?
