The latest series of X-Factor is scheduled to return to our TV's on the 18th August. This is bound to start a new trend of gossip, interest and controversy, as a new set of hopefuls take to the stage to impress the judges of this massive music contest.

The judges which consist of Gary Barlow, Tulisa and Louis Walsh see a new fresh and very attractive face 'Nicole Scherzinger' who has replaced Kelly Rowland from last years competition.

The eagerly waited event is watched by millions of viewers and often dominates the viewing statistics right until Christmas.

The judges haven't been without their troubles though recently. Gary Barlow has sadly just lost his baby, which was still born earlier this week. Talk as to how this will effect the shows opening has already started emerging.

Judge Tulisa, was the victim of a leaked sex tape which brought her embarrassment the other month. Simon Cowell, who made the show said that the tape should not have any impact on Tulisa and the show.

There's no doubt the show brings much visibility to artists who appear on the show, however some question contestants long term careers. The sudden surge of spotlight doesn't always mean they will be successful long term as superstars. One could argue though, that it would give unmeasurable amounts of exposure compared to them not entering though.
