Today, Elise LeGrow announces her second LP Grateful, out 5th November 2021 via Awesome Music/BMG. Grateful marks LeGrow’s first album of originals, following her 2018 critically-acclaimed debut Playing Chess, which featured her interpretations of tunes from the legendary Chess Records.
As its name suggests, Grateful centers on LeGrow’s gratitude as she celebrates joy, processes grief and seeks personal connection in a moment of chaos. The album was produced by Grammy award winning Theron “Neff-U” Feemster, Brian “Sweetwesty” West in addition to Thomas “Tawgs” Salter, Nathan Ferraro, Jamaal “Jhyve” Bowry, David Mohaci and Angelo Petraglia.
To coincide with the announcement of Grateful, LeGrow also releases today her smoky, celebratory new single “Feel Alright.” LeGrow says of the song, “It’s my sweaty-dancefloor anthem – inspired by a Saturday night in Toronto after I had just quit drinking and doing drugs. Surrounded by my best friends, lost in the music and sheer energy of the room, I was reminded that dancing in a crowd is in itself a pretty spectacular high.” The track follows 2020’s “Evan,” a deeply moving, slow-burning tribute to LeGrow’s friend who was killed over a decade ago and whose murder has never been solved.
On Playing Chess, LeGrow found fans in the likes of Action Bronson and Jools Holland, while amassing
acclaim from Billboard, Okayplayer, Salon, Relix, MOJO, and many more, and performing shows around the world.
