Just over a week ago, Luke Combs shocked a UK crowd of country music fans at the C2C Festival in London when Ed Sheeran joined him on stage to perform an amazing duet of ‘Dive’. For many this seemed like the highlight of the weekend, and probably the biggest moment since C2C started in 2013.
With the popularity of country music growing fast in the UK, today US country star Luke Combs continues to defy the odds and break records as he celebrates a feat that sees his US chart topping debut album, This One’s For You, reach Gold in the UK.
This milestone makes Luke one of only two solo country artists to have their debut album certified gold in the UK this century, and the only male solo country artist ever to have their first two albums certified.
The news hits exactly a week since Luke performed a series of jaw-dropping headline sets at the UK’s C2C Festival, where global megastar Ed Sheeran joined him onstage at London’s O2 Arena for a stunning duet of Ed's track 'Dive' - a song that Luke has often covered. Watch the video of ‘Dive’ below.
According to a recent article in the The Guardian, country music has become the fastest growing genre in the UK with a reported spike of a 50% increase from streaming services in the past two years. Some of this is a result from dedicated festivals, and new radio stations. There's no doubt that modern country artists like Luke Combs are contributing to this growing trend too!
