Hevenshe and Maz Green Rock Fitzroy Workers Club

Fitzroy was the place to be in Melbourne on Sunday afternoon, as despite the sweltering heat, fans were treated to an incredible two-part performance from some wonderful Aussie singer songwriters. The Fitzroy Workers Club was pumping when Victorian native Maz Green took to the stage, performing a stellar set, including gems such as “Wrong Impression,” “Moving Slowly,” and the brand new “Satellite.” Her lovely light voice soared above the pumping beats and chords, delivering a powerful punch of poppy, punky grooves with beautifully thought-provoking lyrics.
Following Maz’s beautiful performance came the main event; Hevenshe. Fans of Aussie band Tonight Alive will recognise this lovely lady, the incomparable Jenna McDougall. Sporting a newly shaved head, and an understated wardrobe, she looked amazing and sounded even better. Her sparkly guitar was like an expert’s tool in her hands, and her flawless contralto vocals had the entire place bopping, smiling, and even getting a little teary at times.
The raw emotion McDougall has put into her latest project, Hevenshe, was deeply felt by everyone there. Ever since Tonight Alive went on their touring hiatus, fans have been missing McDougall’s signature blend of musical talent and genuine heart. And she absolutely delivered, with a killer performance and a kindness that radiates from her very soul. Everyone that had the privilege of attending this wonderful show left feeling better about themselves, their lives, and the world.
Hevenshe played gold like “The Blessing,” “These Days,” “Trying Not To Feel,” and gifted the audience with her first ever performance of her brand new upcoming track, “Dear Life.” She even threw in a Tonight Alive throwback, and a tender song she had written to cheer her partner up one night.
The entire experience was truly incredible. Two such unbelievably talented and warm Aussie female powerhouses in one venue. Do yourself a favour and check out Maz Green and Hevenshe on Spotify today! And if you happen to see it in Sydney on 8 December, you can catch Hevenshe playing at The Vanguard!
