You Me At Six frontman Josh Franceschi recently shared his thoughts on the resurgence of emo music and the return of bands like Blink-182, Paramore, and My Chemical Romance with new music in the same vein as their early material.

Despite the excitement surrounding Blink-182's reunion with original co-frontman Tom DeLonge, Franceschi expressed that he didn't feel the same way about the band's iteration with Matt Skiba, who left the band last year to make way for the return of Tom DeLonge. He acknowledged Skiba's talent but stated that it was not the Blink-182 he fell in love with. Franceschi believes that the return of these bands gives fans of alternative music a renewed sense of purpose, as many may have felt lost without their favorite genre of music. You Me At Six's latest album, 'Truth Decay,' was a return to their roots and a collaborative effort that made everyone feel like it was their album. Franceschi sees it as a homecoming for the band and a chance for them to reconnect with their fans.

He said: "Even Blink reforming with their original lineup, that’s a massive thing for a whole generation of kids. I’ve seen Blink with Matt Skiba. That ain’t Blink-182. Period. It doesn’t matter how you dress it up. I’m not saying he’s not a great guitar player or singer or songwriter, but that is not the Blink-182 that I fell in love with. Or having My Chemical Romance come back, having Paramore come back from a hiatus or whatever – it’s a way of making people feel a little less directionless and have a bit more purpose."
