Canadian country singer Tenille Townes has teamed up with superstar Bryan Adams for a powerful new single called "The Thing That Wrecks You," set to be released on February 24th. The world exclusive debut of the song took place on BBC Radio 2's The Country Show With Bob Harris. The track was originally released by Lady A in 2019.
The emotional ballad showcases the remarkable vocals of both artists, with Townes' unique and soulful voice blending perfectly with Adams' iconic sound. The song's poignant lyrics explore the idea of the one thing that can break a person's heart, and the pain that comes with it.
We're running down a darker road
Where even angels fear to go
And stars fall like a lonely tear
When they're crashing through the atmosphere
It looked just like a dream come true
But love can lead you straight into
The thing that wrecks you
Townes expressed her excitement about the collaboration with Adams on Twitter this week:
“BRYAN ADAMS IS SINGING ON A SONG WITH ME!!! “The Thing That Wrecks You” comin for you this Friday”.
Adams, who has sold over 75 million records worldwide, has had a successful career spanning four decades. He has collaborated with numerous artists over the years, including Tina Turner, Sting, and Barbra Streisand.
"The Thing That Wrecks You" marks the latest release from Townes, who was named the 2020 ACM New Female Artist of the Year, and went on to win a string of Canadian Country Music Association awards in 2021 and 2022. Her third studio album, "The Lemonade Stand," was released in 2020 and received critical acclaim for its honest and heartfelt lyrics.
Fans of both artists are no doubt eagerly anticipating the release of the new single, which promises to be a standout track in the country music scene.
