British rapper Speech Debelle has released a new single and music video for "Wayward," ahead of her upcoming album 'Sunday Dinner On A Monday' set to release on June 9th, 2023. The rapper, who won the prestigious Mercury Prize for her debut album 'Speech Therapy' in 2009, explores the concept of masculine-feminine energy and the shadow self in her latest release. The music video, directed by Aiden Harmitt-Williams, was shot in a one-take style to complement the song's ebb and flow.

Speaking about the song, Speech Debelle said, "I wanted to wear a suit to show myself in my masculine energy, learning and leaning into the feminine in me, played by dancer Rónké Olágúnjú." The album 'Sunday Dinner On A Monday' is her fourth studio album and is expected to feature her signature poetic testimonies, playful narratives and dynamic rumination on power, politics, and pleasure.

About the music video, Music video director Aiden Harmitt-Williams commented:

"Immediately upon having the idea for the song, I wanted us to shoot it in one take-style, having it flow and ebb as the song does."

In addition to her music career, Speech Debelle innovatively accompanied her third album, 'Tantil before I Breathe,' with a cookbook and memoir in 2017.
