It has been revealed that this year’s X Factor winner’s single will not be released so that it is in the running for Christmas number one. Instead, it will be released two weeks prior to the Christmas chart.

The winner of the show will be announced during the final which will be taking place on 9th December at Manchester Arena. The single as performed by the winner will then be released shortly after.

The same thing happened last year with Little Mix’s single Cannonball being released the week before Christmas leaving the way clear for the Military Wives to take the Christmas number one. Show bosses seemingly didn't want a repeat of the 2009 campaign to get Rage Against the Machine’s song Killing in the Name to number one over Joe McElderry’s The Climb.

There are rumours that this year’s winners single will be for charity after it being revealed that the show’s creator Simon Cowell is scrapping the usual group charity single. This could mean that the popularity of the winner’s song could be enough to sustain it at the top of the charts for more than one week.

Jahmene Douglas is currently hot favourite with the bookies to win the show and the contestant has already been outspoken about his problems with domestic abuse as a child. This could easily pave the way for him to champion charities that help the cause were he to win.
