The gloves, if they weren't before are well and truly off between Rylan Clark and Gary Barlow.

Rylan has been taking criticism and ever increasingly personal attacks from Barlow from the first week of live shows and it seems like the Essex lad had simply had enough last night.

It started off innocently enough. Being guilty pleasure week, Rylan was in his element performing a mash up of Duran Duran’s Girls on Film and Bros’ When Will I be Famous but then braced himself for the inevitable war of words between himself and Barlow.

Predictably, he wasn’t impressed with Rylan’s performance telling him: "The good news is you're famous. The bad news, it will be over in a few months."

Rylan put on a brave face, laughing the comment off but it was clear that he was fed up with Barlow’s attacks.

Host Dermot O’Leary went on to show a video of Rylan performing in his time as a member of a Take That tribute band which clearly made Gary a little uncomfortable.

Gary queried which member he used to be to which Rylan replied: "I definitely wasn't you, I'm too skinny for that!”

The studio erupted with applause as everyone was glad that Rylan had finally got his own back.

What’s certain is that if Rylan escapes elimination this week, there are sure to be some repercussions and it will be highly entertaining to watch.
