Sir Paul McCartney has announced that he is putting together a concert to raise money to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The benefit show, which is currently being put together under the name 12.12.12 will be held at Madison Square Gardens in New York.
At the moment, McCartney is busy flicking through his phonebook of famous friends that he can get to perform and so far has put together an impressive list of names.
The Who, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band, Alicia Keys, Kanye West and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd have all confirmed that they will take part so far.
A source close to Sir Paul commented saying: “Paul’s connection with New York runs deep since The Beatles played Shea Stadium in the Sixties.
“Many of his friends were severely affected by the storm and it didn’t take him long to make his mind up to do something to help out.”
This won’t be the first charity event that McCartney has been involved in. He played Live Aid in 1985 and at Gary Barlow’s Children in Need Concert last year.
McCartney’s show will be raising funds for the Robin Hood Relief Fund which will help victims in the US and Caribbean who were affected by the superstorm.
