"How Good": Donovan Woods Unveils Delicate and Introspective Single

Canadian songwriter Donovan Woods, a JUNO Award winner, concluded an eventful year of touring with U.S. dates supporting The Gaslight Anthem. He also unveiled his first new music of the year, the single "I'm Around," exploring the intricacies of human relationships. Now, Woods is back with "How Good," a delicate and introspective song co-written with Steve Robson. The piano-driven track serves as a lullaby for Woods and his wife during a challenging time.

Woods shared that "How Good" was "essentially written for my wife and me, in a year when we sorely needed it. It describes a way of looking at the world that’s probably a little naive. My work puts added stress on us, and I’m not the easiest person to be around to begin with, but everything can change in an instant, we all know this.”

In this contemplative song, Woods explores the idea of what if things get better, challenging the common focus on bad news. As a sought-after songwriter, Woods has ventured beyond the singer-songwriter scene, collaborating with artists like Tim McGraw and Lady A’s Charles Kelley. His versatility is evident in collaborations that span folk, country, and even anthemic dance pop.

While Woods has earned respect as a solo artist, his evolving sound defies expectations, incorporating new sonic landscapes and showcasing the timeless quality of classic songwriting that transcends genre. He will embark on a co-headlining tour with songwriter Drew Holcomb across the U.S. this spring.
