- in Latest
Mitch Winehouse, father of the late singer Amy Winehouse, has revealed details about a tribute gig he is planning in her honour.
The acts that will be performing have not been revealed yet although he has said that the response from artists he has approached has been “incredible”.
When asked about the event, Mitch said: "14 September 2014 at the Roundhouse in Camden Town, we'll be unveiling Amy's statue.
"It will be accompanied by a concert. So far, the support from stars has been incredible.
"We want to make it like a Live Aid type concert where we get maybe four, five, six hours' worth. People doing a couple of songs each.
"Obviously that involves a lot of people. So far the response has been incredible,"
As well as the tribute gig for Amy, Mitch has also organised a fundraising event named The Amy Winehouse Foundation Ball which is to raise money for the foundation he started in her name.
Speaking about the foundation’s work, Mitch said they have come up with a plan for an alcohol and drug education project which will roll out to schools.
"We're ready to roll that out in March. I think we are going to be starting with 45 schools.
"We're working with people in recovery to deliver the message to young people.”
