5 Seconds of Summer star Luke Hemmings has announced his latest solo EP, "boy," scheduled for release on April 26, 2024, via Arista Records. Produced in collaboration with longtime collaborator Sammy Witte (known for his work with artists like Maggie Rogers, Harry Styles, and Freya Ridings), the EP introduces the beautifully melancholic single "Shakes," accompanied by a stunning visual directed by George Gallardo and shot in Bogota, Colombia.

This marks Hemmings' first solo project since his critically acclaimed debut, "When Facing the Things We Turn Away From" (2021). Drawing inspiration from musical acts like LCD Soundsystem and the Cocteau Twins, Hemmings aimed to capture a specific feeling he and Witte referred to as "the ache."

As the lead vocalist of 5 Seconds of Summer, Hemmings has achieved immense success, but "boy" allows him to explore his own artistic identity further. Reflecting on "Shakes," Hemmings describes it as a product of longing and emotional depletion, hoping listeners can relate to its themes of love and self-acceptance.

Critical acclaim has followed Hemmings' solo endeavors, with publications like Clash, Rolling Stone, and Nylon praising his artistic growth and introspective lyricism.

At 27, Hemmings continues to evolve as an artist, delving into themes of maturity and humanity while drawing influence from various musical genres. With "boy" set for release, 2024 promises to be a year of growth and exploration for Hemmings as he continues to carve out his unique space in the music industry.
