Pianist Karen Salicath Jamali is having quite a year. Recently nominated as a semi-finalist of the American Prize, she has been gearing up for some much-awaited solo performances in Carnegie Hall, scheduled for the 14th, 15th and 20th of December.

She has been a professional musician for over thirty years now, and by now has amassed a decent fan following across the United States, in addition to her native Denmark. Her original composition ‘Gaia’ won her the American Protege Winter Gala Concert, while ‘Angel Blue’ was applauded and crowned the Honorable Mention Winner of the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music 2019, held in New York.

She clearly has an extensive array of awards and recognitions noting her remarkable talent in music but what is even more impressive is her involvement in fine art. Jamali is a highly accomplished artist, whose works have been featured in some of the most illustrious venues across the world, including the Louvre Museum in Paris. She has been the recipient of the Oscar Award in Art, and her artwork is presented in her gallery in New York City. For a woman already having achieved so many accolades in fields of music and art, some would predict her to be slowing down, but her artistry remains as pristine as ever. Her album Pearls opened to glowing reviews, and her concert at Carnegie Hall looks to be a fantastic showcase for her entire body of work.

Furthermore, the piano that she has so gently made her primary mode of expression remains as soothing as ever; her pieces are tender, smooth and relaxing. Their views on Youtube speak for themself, so it must be amazing for a long-standing artist to find an entirely new generation of listeners through streaming platforms. As mentioned on her website, she “ works with nature and diverse materials transmuting energy and light in her artistic vision.” And those strong associations with nature are reflected in her calming piano pieces, melodies that invoke the purest impulses found in nature and recreate them through the power of song. With work this varied and impressive, her fans will be rooting for her in claiming the American Prize.
