DownTown Mystic Releases The DownTown Demos - Release caps off stellar year for Roots Rocker

by Adam Bailey

Sha-La Music Inc. announces the release of The DownTown Demos EP by US Roots Rocker DownTown Mystic on September 10. The release will be digitally released worldwide via AWAL. Pre-orders will be available on Amazon and Apple Music starting on August 31.

The DownTown Demos contain 6 new tracks and unlike anything previously released by DownTown Mystic. Instead of a live band, there's just beats. DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen comments, "I hooked up with the Bong Bros. for some experimentation and this is the result." What also makes the release somewhat unique is that the new songs are demos for a studio project that has yet to begin recording. Robert adds, "The idea is to show the process of how the project proceeds in real-time, from demo to finished product."

The lead track, (I Want To) Live was written by Robert when he was finishing songs for the Better Day album. The strange thing is that the song was written 10 months before Robert would be diagnosed with MDS, a condition for pre-Leukemia. 7 months later he would receive a stem cell transplant as a cure for the MDS. Robert says, "It's been a long strange trip for sure and the one constant that's kept me going is the music." Besides The DownTown Demos, DownTown Mystic is busy planning the release of another pet project—21st Century Rock 'n Roll. The album will be the artist's statement on the genre he loves and will feature the eclectic group of musicians that inhabit DownTown Mystic's recordings.

The DownTown Demos cap off a stellar year for DownTown Mystic, which started with the release of the DownTown Mystic On E Street Deluxe album featuring Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent of the famed E Street Band. The 2nd single from that album, And You Know Why, is currently receiving radio play in 20 countries. This summer saw the release of the One More Chance album by singer/songwriter Bruce Engler, a project that features DownTown Mystic. The cherry on top would be sync-licensing the song Fly Like The Wind for the Disney film Flora and Ulysses.
