Edgar Everyone Celebrates Second Single Release With Show Featuring Glacial Palms

by Adam Bailey

LA based French-American music producer and multi-instrumentalist Jules de Gasperis, who creates music under the pseudonym Edgar Everyone, released his second single, “The Field”, on June 22nd.

He’ll be playing the first of several shows to tout the single, this one at The Goldfish in LA with Glacial Palms. Following his most recent successes with “Shasta Lounge,” Jules hopes that “The Field” will “expand the visibility of Edgar Everyone, and showcase another piece of my artistic puzzle. Like Shasta Lounge, it is high energy, uplifting and danceable – in a way it is a bit more guitar [and rock]-driven, but I am always trying to keep a solid sense of groove and my usual electronic influences - I think they work quite well together.”

Jules will be following the momentum of his new release with shows throughout the summer in the Los Angeles area. He will play a live show at The Goldfish in LA, July 2nd (with Glacial Palms) as well as another live show at Silverlake Lounge (with Possible Oceans), July 27th. Throughout the summer, de Gasperis will also continue releasing singles as well as music videos to follow the artistic expression and collaboration he has enjoyed with other visual artists on his projects. The visual artwork for the single can be seen at the top of this page.

Jules’ inspiration for “The Field” began in his small apartment in Brooklyn, NY during the pandemic. He shares that at this time, “I was seriously opening the door to my own self-care and started a therapy process that changed my life since then. During that process, I was feeling empowered by the fact that we can change our destiny with every little choice we make during the day.” This notion is a large part of the inspiration for the single, as well as the current state of the world due to the pandemic. Additionally, de Gasperis draws  inspiration from French physicist Philippe Guillemant, specifically Guillemant’s philosophical outlook and coined phrase of the “thickness of your consciousness field.” Jules is legitimately concerned with his consciousness field. An unboasting meditator and believer in working on his higher self, Jules does all of this with zero arrogance or assumption that everyone should find their “zen” the same way he does.  Jules finished up the song when he moved back to LA in Jon Joseph’s studio in North Hollywood.

Coming from an indie rock background in Europe, he has been lucky to work with Mike Stroud of Ratatat in the group KUNZITE, as well as other big names such as Low Hum and James Supercave. He continues to impress with each new project, and explores a truly unique sound that can be best described as electro-rock-pop with its own unique indie flair.

Crossing the boundaries of many genres, Edgar Everyone’s new single will shake up the indie music scene in Los Angeles this summer. And that will be due to his talent, yes, but also to his work ethic, outlook on life, and team and community of people who believe in him. Even better, he’s finally been able to look back at his career and see he’s earned the right and ability to believe in himself. He sees–and he’ll show us–that the Parisian expat has a place in American indie music.
