Herrick Continues Winning Streak at 8th Annual JMA Awards

by Adam Bailey

Nashville, TN- It was a packed house for the 8th Annual JMA Awards at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville last week.  Artists and fans from all over the globe descended on the iconic music venue in full glitz and glamour to celebrate the phenomenally talented artists/musicians/industry professionals in the independent music world.  Nashville-based country music band Herrick has become very familiar faces at the JMA’s over the years holding awards in a slew of categories including Americana Group of the Year in 2017, Country Female Vocalist of the Year in 2020, and two.

Entertainer of the Year awards consecutively in 2020 and 2021. This year Herrick continued their winning streak with Country Single of the Year for “Losin’ Cinderella Shoes” off their acclaimed album “Sunderland Road.” Herrick continues to be a favorite among independent music influencers with their rich melodic persuasion and signature harmonies, and Kerry and Donna Herrick are perpetually grateful to have been honored by the JMA’s on so many occasions.

“We are so honored to have received Country Single of the Year.  We would like to acknowledge our co-producer, the late Ron "Snake" Reynolds.  Without him this project would not have happened.  Snake brought this song to the writing table and the memories we made writing and recording it with him will be with us forever.  Our friend is dearly missed.  We would also like to thank our band and team, Richie Rivera, David Van Walker, Brandy Reed with RPR Media and Mark Lambert at Thirty Seventeen Studio.  Also we would like to thank Josie Passantino-Boone and Tinamaie Passantino for their dedication to "true indie" artists.”  -Donna Herrick

Herrick also had the pleasure of performing at the 1st Annual JMA Music Festival this year that was held the day before the awards ceremony.  Veterans of the live music circuit, Herrick has stunned audiences the “country” over for years with their deeply rooted music style, signature harmonies and the formidable vocal power of Donna Herrick.  “Giving 100% in our live performance is something we are known for and unequivocally work hard to achieve.  We were happy to contribute to the first JMA Music Festival.”

Looking onward to 2023, Herrick will kick off the New Year with the release of their new music video for the album’s title-track “Sunderland Road.”  The video was shot in their new home studio during its construction and marks the very first self-produced music video they have ever done.  “Sunderland Road” is one of those distant memories, a long backwards stare into the times and places that built us.  It’s a seeing through introspective eyes the humble beginnings that were, in fact, far richer than we realized, and the heartwarming discovery that we never really leave home.

“’Sunderland Road’ leads to realms of wistful reflection.  It paves the way for a moving set of songs, which, in itself, leads to a most satisfying sojourn overall.  The duo’s latest album offers ample evidence as to why their music has been so well received.”
