18-year-old rising independent artist, Zi, has recently released their self-produced EP, "Death Wish, Pt 2," — a haunting and introspective journey that explores the themes of solitude, love, and loss.
The EP, which serves as a sequel to the artist's previous work, "Bedroom songs: Death Wish," features a diverse range of musical styles, blending elements of the indie rock, indie folk and the singer-songwriter genres. Ultimately, "Death Wish, Pt 2" is a journey through the darker, more emotional corners of the human experience, and implicitly, the search for meaning in a world that often feels chaotic and cruel.
The EP features 6 tracks, each with a different story. Every song is a reflection of their personal experiences and struggles, delving deeper into the topics of self-image, mental health and relationships. It’s a raw and intimate reflection of Zi's personal experiences, making it a deeply relatable and cathartic listen for anyone going through their own struggles. “I wrote (death wish) part 2 during a very tough time, which is actually still happening right now,” he explains. “At 18 currently, it feels like a point in time where many things are happening, when basically nothing was happening for me before, and I had to learn to somehow and immediately be an adult.”
“I wasn’t ready for that “learning about reality” part of my life yet,” he continues. “I kind of wanted my childhood to last forever,” he says.
From the self-destructive, gradual transition of anger from “Reflection” to the heart-wrenching “Unwinnable war”, “Death Wish, Pt. 2” is honest and authentic, delivered with a distinctive sound and style that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
"Death Wish, Pt. 2" by Zi is available now on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. For more information on the artist and "Death Wish, Pt 2", please visit ziwewe.com.
