Renowned British singer and Sanskritist Gaiea Sanskrit has released her 31st studio album, Celestial Journey, a luminous blend of ancient Sanskrit mantras, soul-stirring melodies, and transcendent soundscapes. The album, now streaming across all major platforms, is already gaining traction on Spotify and features several music videos on YouTube — with more visuals set to follow.
Produced at Studio Noah in London, Celestial Journey is a 10-track odyssey that spans 1 hour and 34 minutes, drawing listeners into a contemplative space of sound, spirit, and Sanskrit. With Viamarsha on tabla and Jamie Frankel on flute and bass, the album brings together seasoned musical talent to create a rich and immersive sonic tapestry.
“Celestial Journey came about organically,” says Gaiea in a mini-interview accompanying the release. “As songs began to gather around me — so to speak — I felt it was time to book the studio. It’s like a diary capturing a moment in life and what helped me through it.”
The album’s title, chosen intuitively, reflects both a spiritual ascent through celestial sound and a grounded, Earth-bound healing path. Tracks like Om Tāre Tuttāre and Respira Tranquila are deeply personal for Gaiea, inspired by her own inner journey. “‘Respira Tranquila’ means ‘breathe and relax’ or ‘breathe and let go’ — something I needed to hear myself,” she shares.
Another highlight, Dāmodarāṣṭakam, holds a special story. “When I visited Barcelona University for a Sanskrit class, the amazing teacher Dr. Maria Elena and her friend sang it to their students. I loved it immediately and knew it belonged on this album.”
With degrees in Sanskrit from Oxford and a Master’s in Music Theatre, Gaiea Sanskrit’s work is a rare synthesis of linguistic depth and musical artistry. She began studying Sanskrit at the age of four, and today her music bridges East and West, tradition and innovation. Her global following continues to grow through live performances, workshops, and the Cosmic Choir — her international collective of Sanskrit singers, who will next perform in Rapallo, Italy on June 28.
Sanskrit, often referred to as “the language of the gods,” plays a central role in Gaiea’s work. “Its vibrations can harmonise the body and soul,” she says. “Even after thousands of years, its sound carries timeless wisdom and healing.”
Celestial Journey is available now on Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms. For inquiries, please visit here.
