Acclaimed pianist and composer Richard Atkins announces the release of his latest solo piano album, Pianistically Speaking, a spellbinding collection of fifteen original compositions that create a serene, immersive aura. Recorded at the renowned Piano Haven Studios and released on May 16, 2025, the album effortlessly blends elements of New Age, classical crossover, and light jazz.

Designed to elicit deep emotional resonance, Pianistically Speaking offers more than just musical beauty—it has been described as a transformative auditory adventure. Atkins' refined artistry appears to tap directly into the brain’s reward system, triggering both immediate and anticipatory dopamine responses leaving listeners with feelings of profound peace, serenity, and even euphoria.

Critics have hailed the album as a rare achievement. “Pianistically Speaking is a start-to-finish journey of gorgeous melodies and sensitive playing, highlighted by superb phrasing, a beautiful touch, and a glorious sounding piano. Bravo to Mr. Atkins!” says Gail Isenberg, New York-based piano teacher. Shigeru Kawai Artist Joe Bongiorno describes the album as “a soothing blend of melody, harmony and divine technique that stirs the imagination and touches the soul…Very hard to put into words.” Hollywood director Jerry Levine adds, “It relaxes and inspires me. The day just feels better somehow. The traffic on the 405 seems to melt away, if just for a little bit. Pianistically Speaking is magically brilliant from master pianist, Richard Atkins.”

With titles like “Nirvana,” “Echoes,” “Out to Sea,” and “French Café,” the album transports listeners through intimate, reflective, and vivid soundscapes.

Were Debussy, Mancini, and John Williams commissioned to collaborate, their efforts might resemble the compositional richness found in Atkins’ work.
