Simon Cowell has confirmed that the X Factor winners single will be for charity. It was rumoured that the usual group single would be scrapped earlier this month but now Cowell has revealed that the rumours are true and it will be substituted with the winner’s single.

The song will be available to download as soon as the winner is announced on December 9th and 100% of the profits from the sale of the CD and download versions will be going towards the charity for Short Lives.

Cowell has been working closely with the charity for many years now and stated: "Together for Short Lives is such an inspiring and important charity for so many kids and their families who really need help and support.

"These hospices are really happy and positive places and are a complete lifeline for so many families.

"Having worked with this charity for many years I have been able to see first hand how they have impacted so many lives, and I’m delighted that The X Factor’s winner single sales will go directly to helping them."

As with other series’ of the show, the two remaining finalists will both record a version of the song, which is yet to be revealed, and will perform it live during the final which will be taking place in Manchester.
