British alternative rock band Imperial Wax, originating from Manchester, are set to bring their post-punk, noise rock shenanigans to the Strummerville stage at Glastonbury.

The band announced on social media: "Been sitting on this for ages so we are very very excited to finally announce that we are playing this year’s @glastonbury. We’re playing on Thursday at the Strummerville stage. More info coming soon."

Describing themselves as "noise rock & garage brawlers unafraid of a psych workout or a rockabilly dust-up," Imperial Wax continue to make an impact in the alternative music scene. Their latest album, "Tranquilliser," released on February 9, 2024, has garnered praise from Louder Than War, which said, "In Tranquilliser, Imperial Wax have created a rich tapestry of unadulterated hard-driving garage rock which further enriches the legacy which they continue to carry forward with no shortage of talent and creativity." Their previous LP, "Gastwerk Saboteurs," was described by The Arts Desk as "storming stuff with a sneering wit and a thump that’s aimed firmly at getting listeners on their feet."

This year, Imperial Wax has already played a live session on BBC Radio 6's Riley & Coe show and performed at numerous venues across the UK. The band comprises of Sam Curran (lead vocals), Pete Greenway (guitar), Keiron Melling (drums), Shane Standrill (bass guitar), Charlie Wyatt (guitar), and Simon "Ding" Archer (synthesizers). Greenway and Melling were members of The Fall for over a decade until the death of Mark E. Smith in January 2018, which led to the formation of Imperial Wax.

Situated high on the hill by Worthy Gate, Strummerville is a beloved spot for Glastonbury attendees. Known for its eclectic talent, 24-hour campfire, café, and CasBar, it offers the festival’s finest viewpoint. The stage, dedicated to Joe Strummer’s legacy, continues to host some of the best and most diverse musical acts. Glastonbury-goers can look forward to Imperial Wax’s dynamic performance in this iconic setting on Thursday, 27th June.
