There have been rumours flying around the internet that Simon Cowell is trying to come up with new ways to help boost flagging ratings of the UK version of the X Factor.

The show’s boss has reportedly been trying to get old judge Sharon Osbourne back and it is now rumoured that he wants to return to the show himself.

Gary Barlow has spoken out to say that he is not sure if he would want to return next if Cowell will also be on the judging panel.

The current head judge told the Mirror: "Could I judge alongside Simon Cowell if he came back? Mmm, I don’t know.

"I have enjoyed this series more than last year but the show feels like it has been going on for a year this time.

"If this is my last year, I've had a lot of fun and enjoyed every minute."

There have previously been reports of tension between Barlow and Cowell so if they were to finally work together, there would undoubtedly be plenty of drama.

Back to the current series of the show and it has been announced that Rod Stewart will be appearing this weekend to sing with the remaining contestants.
