James Arthur is still having doubts about being suited to the X Factor despite having made the semi finals of the show which are taking place this weekend.

The 24 year old spoke of his surprise at getting so far in the contest.

"I didn't ever think The X Factor would suit me. I didn't think I'm the type of contestant they would normally attract. I'm just glad that they embraced me."

There have been fears that he is too "cool" for the show but he insisted that he didn't think this was the case.

"I don't know about this whole cool thing. I'm just really laid back and I don't impose myself on people so, maybe that's why it's working for me."

X Factor producers have been working hard to make sure that the final of the show goes with a bang but they are having problems with the possibility that Christopher Maloney will be reaching it.

On the other end of the scale to James Arthur, Christopher is seen as one of the least cool contestants.

A source told the Sun:  "Christopher has never been in the bottom two before and bosses are working on the likelihood that he will be in the final - and this has caused a real headache for them.

"In the past, the acts who have reached the final have had some sort of star quality or credibility which has attracted big-name talent wanting to perform with them.

"But unfortunately that is just not the case with Christopher. He has got a good voice - but it is fair to say he is probably the uncoolest singer to have ever got this far.

"So producers have lined up Gary to sing with him instead. Of course Gary is a massive star, with hits including Could It Be Magic, and Christopher will still be thrilled to sing with his mentor."
