Legendary rocker Bryan Adams has dropped the video for his latest track, "War Machine," the highly anticipated second single from his new independent label, Bad Records. Following in the footsteps of his earlier release, "Rock And Roll Hell," this new song delivers a potent mix of raw energy and lyrical intensity, further cementing Adams’ reputation as a rock icon unafraid to tackle big themes.
"War Machine," co-written by Adams, Jim Vallance, and Gene Simmons, has a storied history. Originally penned for KISS's 1982 album Creatures of the Night, the track has been reimagined by Adams for a new generation. The signature riff, born from a bass line played by Simmons, sets the tone for a song that is as forceful as its title suggests. "The title came to me quickly," Adams explains, "since the other song we’d written was about hell, war was the obvious theme to coincide with it."
In a world increasingly marked by conflict and division, Adams felt the time was right to finally share "War Machine" with the world. "I aimed to create something monumental for the ‘War Machine’ video," Adams says, noting how the current global climate makes the track's release particularly poignant. Collaborating with CGI director Ben Ib, known for his work on the peace-themed video "What If There Were No Sides At All," Adams decided to take a different approach for "War Machine." The result is a stark portrayal of chaos and destruction, with a tyrant who ultimately faces the consequences of his actions—a fitting visual counterpart to the song's heavy themes.
The video, already generating buzz on YouTube, has struck a chord with fans. One commenter from Surrey, BC, Canada, proclaimed, "Bryan Adams is a national icon. Much love from Surrey, BC, Canada." Another fan praised the track's evolution, saying, "All this time Bryan is evolving and delivering stellar music non-stop! Thank you for this new tune, it's something different but it's awesome." Yet, there’s a sense of concern among listeners that the song might not get the attention it deserves: "I really hope this gets the air time it deserves, but somehow I fear it will not. Great work Bryan love everything you do and the message it sends."
Both "War Machine" and "Rock And Roll Hell" signal a new chapter for Adams as he embarks on this independent journey with Bad Records. Fans can look forward to a special 7" vinyl single release on August 30th, when "War Machine" will also become available on all streaming platforms. Pre-orders for the vinyl are already live, offering a tangible piece of Adams' evolving legacy.
Bryan Adams’ career has been nothing short of remarkable, with a string of accolades that include chart-topping hits in over 40 countries, a Grammy, 18 Juno Awards, and nominations for both Academy Awards and Golden Globes. Inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Adams continues to prove that he’s not only a seasoned veteran but a relentless force in the music industry.
"War Machine" is more than just a song; it's a powerful anthem that resonates with the turbulent times we live in. With its gritty riffs and thought-provoking lyrics, Adams delivers a track that is sure to leave a lasting impact.
