Cian explains, “It’s one of those songs that finds its meaning as you write it. It starts as just an idea, something you relate to, and over time you realize what it’s really about. “Can’t Even Hate You” arrives as Cian continues to work on his highly anticipated second album. While many artists might rush to release a follow-up after a major breakthrough—Cian has already racked up 1.3 billion streams, two Top 20 hits, and the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Irish Song of the Year—he’s chosen to take his time. He’s allowing the new record to reach its full potential while also soaking in the incredible response from his fans on tour.

Cian, who has become known for his spontaneous and moving pop-up performances, recently took things to a new level as the first artist to perform through the international Portals initiative. Accompanied by a flash mob choir and a backing band, Cian’s performance was live-streamed from the Portal sculpture in Dublin to audiences in New York City, Vilnius, and Lublin.
