This third single from the album marked Oasis’s first foray into the UK Top 10 and is credited with launching the band into the global spotlight.
The Footnotes episode provides a detailed exploration of "Live Forever," including commentary from the band members and an in-depth analysis of its music videos. The UK version, directed by Carlos Grasso, features symbolic imagery such as New York’s Strawberry Fields memorial, a nod to John Lennon. Meanwhile, the US version, directed by Nick Egan, shows the band surrounded by images of rock icons like Kurt Cobain and Jim Morrison, further cementing the song's legacy as an anthem of resilience.
Oasis's recent announcement of a long-awaited reunion tour has reignited interest in their music, with a staggering 804% increase in music video views in the UK and 531% in the US. Classics like "Champagne Supernova," "Don’t Look Back In Anger," and "Wonderwall" have seen the most significant spikes in viewership, as both old and new fans revisit the band’s catalog.
The episode also features Liam Gallagher reflecting on the personal significance of "Live Forever," which remains one of his favorite tracks.
