Entertaining millions with his show-stopping guitar skills, MARCIN today releases his long-awaited debut album DRAGON IN HARMONY, available now on Sony Music Masterworks. The Man, Polyphia’s Tim Henson, Delaney Bailey, and Ichiko Nito.
Making its debut alongside the album release today is a new music video for “When the Light Goes,” his collaboration alongside Portugal. The Man. Directed by Marcin himself, the video tells an abstract story based on Slavic mythology and Gourley’s ambient lyrics - Watch below.
“Marcin kept popping up on social media,” says John Gourley of Portugal. The Man. “I was impressed with his guitar playing and this kid who loved his instrument—refreshing to see this, in fact. I was in Alaska when I was writing it, listening to Coast to Coast, thinking about people who obsess over things, true or not, which loosely is what the song is about.”
“I love that band,” says Marcin, who was in high school when Woodstock by Portugal. The Man was released. “I responded, ‘thanks for the support. Please be on one of my songs. John was an absolute sweetheart to work with, and I can’t thank him enough. It’s one of my fondest memories, working on this song from beginning to end.”
With nods from Rolling Stone, Billboard, Guitar World, Premier Guitar and more, plus an electrifying performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and his first-ever cover for Total Guitar, Marcin continues to reach millions of fans and followers across multiple platforms. In a few short yet explosive years, Marcin’s virtuosic technique has been championed by the likes of Tom Morello, Paul Stanley, Madonna, BTS’ Jungkook, Timbaland, Ty Dolla $ign and Wyclef Jean, to name a few.
Produced alongside Dan Book (blink-182, Shania Twain, Britney Spears), Dragon in Harmony features collaborations with Polyphia’s Tim Henson (“Classical Dragon,” 3.4M views), singer-songwriter Delaney Bailey (“Allergies”) and guitarist Ichika Nito, alongside Marcin’s arrangements of music by Nirvana (“Heart Shaped Box”), Justin Timberlake, Sade, Mozart, Debussy, and Miles Davis/Bill Evans.
“I was born in 2000, the Year of the Dragon, and I’m releasing my debut in 2024, another Year of the Dragon, so it felt like a very natural idea to follow,” says Marcin. “The dragon is a fiery mythical beast, untamed and chaotic. And then you have this idea of harmony, which is the opposite of that. In recent years, I’ve been doing so many things but not necessarily fusing them into a whole — everything was in bits. But now I’m finally making an artistic statement that is cohesive rather than fractured. The dragon is in harmony.”
Marcin effortlessly blends melody, harmony, and hand-drum-style percussion across a genre-fluid collection of original compositions and covers on Dragon in Harmony. “’Guitar Is Dead’ is kind of my response to guitar purists,” Marcin says of the album opener, continuing, “It’s me saying: ‘Yeah, you’re right. Guitar is dead. Just keep doing everything that’s been done before.’ My goal has always been to show a wide-open audience that my style of performing is just another way of playing the guitar —there’s no barrier to entry.”
In 2022, Marcin launched a signature guitar with Ibanez Guitars, joining contemporaries Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Tim Henson and Ichika Nito as ambassadors for the Japanese brand.
The electrifying performances by this Polish-born musician extend far beyond the screen, with his first global headlining tour selling out across Asia and North America in weeks, including New York’s Gramercy Theatre and The Troubadour in Los Angeles. He now gears up to take the new album on his first-ever headlining European tour, kicking off March 2025 in Paris and making stops across Europe.
