Sir Paul McCartney Appears on Stage With Nirvana Band Members
- in Latest
Nirvana enjoyed a rather unusual reunion at the 12/12/12 concert with Paul McCartney stepping into the role of lead singer in place of the late Kurt Cobain.
The concert was held at Madison Square Gardens and was held in order to raise funds to help people who were affected by Hurricane Sandy which ripped through New York in October of this year.
The former Beatle kicked off his show with Helter Skelter before telling a story about how he was jamming with a few guys when he suddenly realised he was “in the middle of a Nirvana reunion” and with that he introduced ex-Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl on stage along with Krist Novoselic and Grohl’s Foo Fighters band mate Pat Smear.
The band played new Nirvana song Cut me Some Slack before stepping aside for McCartney’s regular band.
Courtney Love, widow of Kurt Cobain was said to be “not amused” by the idea of Paul McCartney stepping in for her late husband.
She said: "Look, if John [Lennon] were alive it would be cool."
It hasn't been revealed what her thoughts on the performance were having seen it though it’s safe to say she probably wasn't amused.
The gig was the first time Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic had appeared on stage together since the death of Cobain in 1994.
Do you think Courtney Love should be mad about this? Please share your thoughts
