Simon Cowell is reportedly going all out to make some big changes to help boost flagging ratings for the next series of the X Factor.

The latest news from the music mogul’s camp is that he has apparently approached and is in talks with Rihanna to get her to appear on the show.

According to The Sun, Cowell is desperate to get her involved, even giving her the choice of appearing on either the UK or US X Factor.

An insider said: "Simon is a huge admirer of Rihanna and knows she's star quality. As well as bringing an aura to the panel thanks to her current standing in music, she is also feisty and will make great TV. Simon loves these sort of characters."

Cowell has been busy looking for a replacement for X Factor USA judge LA Reid who is leaving the show after the current series.

Surprisingly, he has apparently approached Rihanna’s on-off boyfriend Chris Brown for the role.

The show insider explained: "The US X Factor has improved on the first season's ratings but it's got some way to go to reach Simon's expectations. Adding Chris to the panel will certainly create a talking point."
