British-American trio Raynes is gearing up for a new chapter as they commence their 2025 tour, set to showcase tracks from their recently released EP '49. The band’s latest release, which dropped in late 2024, is a sonic journey inspired by the 1849 American gold rush and mirrors the band’s own leap of faith as they pursue their musical dreams across the United States.

The EP '49, named after the historic migration to California during the gold rush, explores themes of risk, ambition, and the pursuit of success. Featuring five tracks, the EP presents a darker, more atmospheric side of Raynes, blending haunting melodies, evocative soundscapes, and deeply emotional lyrics. The songs dive into the emotional complexities of chasing a dream, from the desperation to find fortune to the realization that the journey itself is just as important as the destination.

The tour will kick off on January 10 in Tucson, Arizona, where Raynes will bring their new music to life on stage. Audiences can expect a raw and immersive experience as the band performs tracks from '49, including the haunting "American Waters," the upbeat “Tie Me to the Tracks,” and the emotionally charged "Animal Skulls." With an emphasis on dynamic performances and storytelling, Raynes will take fans through the emotional highs and lows captured in their most ambitious release yet.

“On a molecular level, ’49 is fundamentally about death,” the trio said. “The lyrics explore the emotions of someone desperate to discover the mother lode in the bedrock or the oasis of the desert, wondering if failure is the price of freedom.”

The band’s journey from their respective hometowns to California to pursue music mirrors the risks taken by those who flocked to the West in search of gold. This theme of adventure and uncertainty will be brought to life through Raynes' signature mix of evocative string arrangements, lonesome whistles, and stirring vocals that define '49.

Alongside their upcoming tour dates, Raynes also plans to share new stories and insights from their journey, offering fans a deeper connection to the music that drives them.

“We wanted to end with an unmistakable element of hope,” the band said. “Just as many of the forty-niners left California after failing to strike it rich, we too left Los Angeles at the end of 2023. We’re searching for a different kind of gold now – we really do believe we’ve already struck artistic alchemy in becoming Raynes.”
