Sam Fender has released a new video for People Watching, the title track from his highly anticipated third album, set for release on February 21, 2025, via Capitol Records.
The video stars Andrew Scott, the globally acclaimed BAFTA and Laurence Olivier Award-winning Irish actor, known for his standout performances in All of Us Strangers, Ripley, and the West End production of Uncle Vanya, where he brought eight characters to life. Scott is set to appear in the upcoming Knives Out sequel, Wake Up Dead Man, and Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon, which will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in February.
In the People Watching video, Scott delivers a heart-wrenching portrayal of love and loss, perfectly complementing the song’s soaring emotion. Reflecting on the project, Scott shared:
"Sam’s masterpiece of a song has become a true friend to me. Working on it was truly cathartic, and I’ll always be grateful to Sam for his extraordinary talent, and for the other artists who made this film, and of course to my mum, who I will hold in my heart till the day I die."
Fender, thrilled about Scott’s involvement, added:
"I’m really excited for the ‘People Watching’ video to be out in the world this week. I was so buzzing when I found out Andrew wanted to be involved—I’m a huge fan of his and he was absolutely perfect for the role."
Directed by Stuart McIntyre, the video was shot in Long Beach, California, and is now available to watch online.
A New Era for Sam Fender
Last week, Fender shared his new single, Arm’s Length, a song that has already made an impact on his 2024 sold-out UK and Ireland arena tour with its widescreen cinematic sound. Describing the track, he explained:
"‘Arm’s Length’ originally came from one of those magic moments where you’re just messing around, and a song literally falls out of the sky. It’s about being avoidant and flighty. But also, just a simple pop song, which I love."
With People Watching, Fender solidifies his status as one of Britain’s most accomplished songwriters of his generation. If Seventeen Going Under was his “coming-of-age” album, this new record marks his next step—bringing colorful stories and observations of everyday people and their often extraordinary lives.
Stadium Tour & Ticket Sales
Fender is gearing up for a sold-out European tour in March, followed by a Spring US tour. Back home, his UK stadium dates are selling fast, with three nights at Newcastle’s St. James’ Park already sold out. His biggest show yet, at London Stadium, is down to its final tickets.
CMAT will support all four stadium shows, while The War on Drugs will join on June 6, 14, and 15.
In support of the arts in the North East of England, £1 from every ticket sold on the stadium tour will be donated to cultural organizations such as Youth Music and Sunday for Sammy.
Tickets are available now via www.samfender.com.
