Nick Grimshaw Banned From Doing Regular Feature
- in Latest
Radio 1’s Breakfast Show presenter Nick Grimshaw has been banned from doing one of his regular features on his show since the death of nurse Jacintha Saldanha.
In the feature “Call or Delete” Grimshaw gets celebrity guests to go through the contacts on their phones and choose one at random to either prank call or delete all together.
The feature hasn't been aired at all since Saldanha was found dead at her home following the prank call from two Australian DJs.
Mel Greig and Michael Christian had phoned the hospital where Kate Middleton was staying due to acute morning sickness, and pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles, had been put through to Kate’s private nurse by Saldanha.
The BBC have announced that they will be withholding “Call or Delete” until an unspecified time next year out of respect for Saldanha.
A spokesperson for the BBC said: "Despite rigorous editorial procedures around the use of hoax calls on air, given recent events we have decided to suspend the “Call Or Delete” feature for the time being."
Nick Grimshaw took over the Radio 1 Breakfast Show from Chris Moyles earlier this year after Moyles had been presenting it for 8 years.
