Rising country artist Zach John King has released his latest track, "Cold Shoulder," just days before his highly anticipated performance at the Country to Country Festival, taking place over the weekend of March 14-16, 2025. The emotional new song, which is now available for streaming, further cements King’s status as a country artist to watch, with Country Swag dubbing him a "newcomer who is turning heads with his music."

Produced by Ryan Wilson, "Cold Shoulder" was co-written by King alongside Zarni Dewet and Tom Whall. The song captures the raw emotions of heartbreak, with the narrator reliving the painful memory of walking away from a past relationship. Featuring a nearly acoustic production, the midtempo track showcases King’s evocative storytelling and his ability to convey deep emotions through his vocals.

“I wrote Cold Shoulder to paint a vivid picture of what it feels like to lose someone you love,” King shares. “I wanted it to be incredibly visual—so that when you listen, you feel like you're right there in the moment. At its core, it's a simple story about one of the hardest nights of my life. We recorded it in a single take, which is a really special detail. It’s the most stripped-down song I’ve ever released, and I’m excited for people to hear a different side of me."

The release of Cold Shoulder follows King’s recent single, Slow Down, which drew widespread acclaim and solidified his growing reputation in country music. All Country News praised King as "a force to be reckoned with in country music," and the music video for Slow Down is currently in rotation on CMT Music. Additionally, King is currently on the road, serving as an opener for Vincent Mason’s Hell Is A Dance Floor Tour.

A Sony Music Nashville artist, King blends the reflective storytelling of a roots poet with the gritty intensity of alternative rock, pushing country music in an exciting new direction. Raised in Fayetteville, Georgia, King comes from a family of poets and lyricists, which influenced his writing-first approach to music. His musical tastes span across genres, from George Jones and Otis Redding to The Police, Third Eye Blind, Switchfoot, and Biz Markie. He fronted an indie-rock band in college before moving to Nashville in 2021, where he fully embraced his country roots.

Since his solo debut in 2023 with the genre-blending Just Missed You, King has continued to craft his unique sound. His breakout 2024 single Wannabe Cowboy has garnered 3.4 million streams worldwide and earned placements on major Spotify playlists like New Boots, Fresh Country, and Next From Nashville. He followed that success with the late-2024 release of Hole in the Wall, a slow-burning dive-bar anthem that showcased his signature mix of country and rock.

As King prepares for a wider 2025 debut, he remains dedicated to exploring the raw, rootsy space where country and rock collide. With electric guitars, a smoky vocal edge, and a less-is-more approach, his music offers a fresh take on country storytelling. Fans can expect more to come from the rising artist as he continues his journey.
