IDLES are set to bring an electrifying experience to Bristol’s Queen Square on August 1st and 2nd with their highly anticipated Block Party shows. Marking their only UK headline performances of 2025, the Block Party weekend promises to be a landmark event—both for the band and for Bristol—as the first major live music event hosted at Queen Square in over 20 years.
Vocalist Joe Talbot had previously vowed to curate a line-up featuring "music we love for the people we love," and today’s announcement of special guests more than delivers on that promise.
Friday’s bill will be an all-out sonic assault led by SOFT PLAY, the dynamic punk duo who made a high-energy comeback with last year’s critically acclaimed HEAVY JELLY. They will be joined by the riotous Lambrini Girls, who have been championed by Iggy Pop and Kathleen Hanna and recently broke into the Top 20 with their debut album Who Let The Dogs Out. Opening the day’s festivities is dubstep renegade SICARIA, ensuring an intense start to the weekend.
Saturday continues the high-energy momentum with The Voidz leading the supporting acts. Fronted by The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, The Voidz released their third album Like All Before You last year, which Clash described as "experimental music that balances what’s classic, classy, and cool." Spanish garage-rock duo Hinds bring their party-starting energy to the outdoor stage, while Bristol’s own ‘Black + Queer’ pioneer Grove adds a dose of anarchic electronica, fresh off their electrifying Boiler Room set. Rounding out the line-up is Club Yeke founder and NTS Radio favorite Tash LC.
Both days will be enhanced with sets from local DJs, while food and drink will be provided by a selection of Bristol’s finest vendors. Limited tickets for both days are still available.
The Block Party weekend marks another milestone in the ‘TANGK’ era for IDLES. The album received widespread international acclaim upon release, becoming the band’s second UK #1 and earning them three Grammy Award nominations. Their headline set on Glastonbury’s Other Stage last summer led to speculation about a future Pyramid Stage slot, and they further solidified their reputation with major performances at Truck and End of the Road festivals, followed by a sold-out UK tour, including two nights at London’s Alexandra Palace for 20,000 fans.
This summer, IDLES will continue their global takeover with key festival appearances across Europe, along with two major shows in the U.S.: a performance at Boston’s historic Fenway Park as special guests of My Chemical Romance and an appearance at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Festival.
