Indie rock fans are in for a treat as two of the biggest names from the 2000s indie rock boom, The Wombats and Razorlight, team up for two special live shows in August 2025. The bands will co-headline as part of the Margate Summer Series at Dreamland and the Hitchin Priory Summer Series, promising high-energy performances packed with fan-favorite hits.

Since their breakout debut in 2007 with A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, The Wombats—Matthew "Murph" Murphy, Tord Øverland Knudsen, and Dan Haggis—have become indie rock staples. With a career spanning six studio albums and an impressive 2.5 billion streams, the trio has solidified their place in the genre. Their chart-topping albums, including The Modern Glitch and Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, showcase their signature blend of indie rock with electro, disco, and hip-hop influences.

Their latest album, Oh! The Ocean, released earlier this month, has received critical acclaim and secured a Top 5 spot on the UK charts. Fresh off a celebrated performance at Reading 2024, The Wombats continue to captivate audiences with their dynamic sound and emotionally charged songwriting.

Razorlight were at the forefront of the early 2000s indie rock revival, delivering anthems such as America and Wire to Wire. Their success led to three Top 5 albums, nine Platinum certifications, and an NME Award. After reuniting in 2021, the classic lineup—Johnny Borrell, Björn Ågren, Carl Dalemo, and Andy Burrows—sold out a headline tour and released Razorwhat? The Best of Razorlight, along with a 20th-anniversary edition of Up All Night.

Earlier this year, the band released Fall To Pieces, a mini-documentary exploring their meteoric rise, internal struggles, and eventual reunion after 11 years apart. Now, Razorlight remains a defining force in indie rock, and their upcoming performances at Margate and Hitchin Priory will be a celebration of their enduring legacy.

Rob Waller, MD of Soundcrash, shared his excitement about the upcoming shows:

We’re beyond excited to welcome The Wombats and Razorlight for what will be two electrifying nights of indie rock anthems. With Dreamland’s iconic setting and the historic grounds of Hitchin Priory as backdrops, combined with two of the most influential bands of the 2000s, these are must-see summer events.”

Returning in 2025 for its most extensive edition yet, the Margate Summer Series will once again take place at Dreamland, bringing an impressive lineup of performers to the coastal venue. Confirmed acts so far include The Libertines, Billy Ocean, Basement Jaxx, and McFly, with more to be announced.

Back for its second year, the Hitchin Priory Summer Series continues to grow, offering large-scale outdoor concerts in the picturesque grounds of the historic Priory building. Located just 30 minutes from King’s Cross, this event boasts an 8,000-capacity venue, making it a prime destination for music lovers in Hertfordshire and beyond.

With two of the most celebrated indie rock bands sharing the stage, these shows are set to be a highlight of the summer festival season. Don’t miss out on a chance to experience The Wombats and Razorlight live in two unforgettable settings this August.
