After nearly four years since his last studio album, country superstar Blake Shelton is making his long-awaited return with For Recreational Use Only, set to release on May 9. This marks his debut album under BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, and fans can already pre-order, pre-add, or pre-save the record.
Leading the way is Shelton’s current US Top 10 hit single, Texas, a track that has quickly gained traction among both country radio and devoted listeners. People Magazine has described the song as “rollicking,” signaling its widespread appeal.
“It’s been a long time since we had a new album out, and I want to thank the songwriters and musicians who helped bring this record to life,” Shelton said. “Scott (Hendricks) and I have been working on this music for years, and I’m beyond excited to finally share it with the fans.”
In addition to Texas, Shelton has also released Let Him In Anyway, a stirring ballad that serves as another preview of the album. The song tells the deeply emotional story of a man seeking divine forgiveness for a lost friend who came close to redemption.
“Let Him In Anyway is one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever had the chance to record,” Shelton shared. “Hardy is a co-writer and a friend, and I’ve never heard a song like this before. When I first listened to it, I knew it was something special. It’s an honor to bring it to life, and I’m incredibly proud of the record we made.”
Spanning 12 tracks, For Recreational Use Only captures the essence of life’s highs and lows through authentic storytelling, raw emotion, and signature melodies. The album boasts special guest appearances from superstar Gwen Stefani, country legend John Anderson, and longtime friend and tourmate Craig Morgan, adding to its highly anticipated nature.
Meanwhile, Shelton continues to wow audiences on his sold-out Friends & Heroes Tour, joined by an all-star lineup featuring Craig Morgan, Deana Carter, Trace Adkins, and Emily Ann Roberts. More than just a concert series, the tour serves as a celebration of country music’s rich legacy, bringing together legendary artists and rising stars for unforgettable performances.
With For Recreational Use Only, Shelton reinforces his place as one of country music’s most dynamic and compelling voices. As he prepares to share this deeply personal and resonant collection with the world, fans can look forward to an album that is sure to leave a lasting impact.
