The Justice Collective Reach Christmas Number One - Listen
- in Latest
The Justice Collective just managed to snatch the Christmas number one title away from James Arthur after one of the closest battles in three years.
The track, “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” managed to sell over 269,000 copies beating James Arthur’s song “Impossible” by 45,000 copies, despite James taking an early lead in the first half of the week.
James didn’t seem bitter about losing as he took to Twitter to say: "He ain't heavy he's my brother the deserved Xmas number 1.
"Beautiful song and a very worthy cause. Bless all affected by the disaster #LOVE."
He has managed to gain his own victory despite not being Christmas number one by having the fastest selling X Factor winner’s song ever, with the song looking likely to become the biggest selling of the winner’s songs as well.
“He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” includes some big name stars which have helped boost it to number one including Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Paloma Faith, Mel C and Rebecca Ferguson among many others.
The track was conceived to help raise funds for the families of the 96 Liverpool fans who were killed at the Hillsborough stadium during the 1989 FA Cup semi final.
Emeli Sande’s album “Our Version of Events” rose back in the album charts to become number one there with Olly Murs’ album “Right Place Right Time” taking the number two spot.
