Sophie Ellis-Bextor is ready to soundtrack your end-of-summer high. The genre-blending icon has announced her long-awaited eighth studio album Perimenopop, due out September 12 via Decca—and to mark the moment, she’ll bring the party to London’s KOKO for a one-night-only album launch show on September 8.
The announcement arrives alongside “Taste,” a flirtatious, full-flavor collaboration with MNEK and Jon Shave. Channeling Sophie’s signature blend of disco-pop finesse and lyrical sensuality, the track celebrates magnetic chemistry and the thrill of indulgence. “It’s about becoming addicted to someone’s taste—how everything they introduce you to feels just right,” she says. “All your senses feel alive and awake. Chef’s kiss.”
Perimenopop is Ellis-Bextor at her most self-assured—embracing a new chapter of life with glitter, grace, and a whole lot of synth. The album features recent singles “Freedom of the Night,” “Relentless Love,” and “Vertigo,” and sees Sophie reuniting with visual collaborator Sophie Muller, paying homage to her iconic “Murder on the Dancefloor” legacy while pushing forward sonically.
Following a global disco renaissance sparked by Saltburn’s climactic scene, which sent “Murder on the Dancefloor” back to No. 2 in the UK and onto the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time, Ellis-Bextor has been riding high with sold-out tours, massive festival appearances (including a Pyramid Stage Glastonbury slot), and a New Year’s Eve performance in NYC’s Times Square.
Now, with Perimenopop, she’s reclaiming the dancefloor once more—this time, on her own terms. Tickets for the KOKO launch show go on general sale May 16, with pre-sale access via album pre-order starting May 14.
