The Official Charts Company has announced that she has just edged ahead of Oasis’s record for their 1995 album “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory” which to date has shifted 4,555,000 copies, whereas sales of “21” have just reached 4,562,000 copies.

She still has a little way to go before she works her way into the top three which remains unchanged. Queen’s collection of “Greatest Hits” holds the title of the UK’s biggest selling album, having shifted an unparalleled 5,866,000 copies, the Beatles’ “Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band” comes second with 5,059,000 copies and third place belongs to ABBA with their greatest hits album “Gold” having sold 5,046,000.

She may have amassed impressive sales figures but it has been reported that not everyone was thrilled to receive a copy of her album this Christmas. Website musicMagpie revealed that it was the most returned album on Christmas day with 47,315 copies being traded in by users of the site.

The person who came second in having the largely unwanted accolade was Emeli Sande with “Our Version of Events” which had 41,038 returns and third place went to One Direction’s “Up All Night” with 37,846 returns.
