“Gangnam Style” Most Played Song on New Year's Eve

Times have moved on since the days where party goers sang “Auld Lang Syne” on New Year's Eve and perhaps not surprisingly, it didn't feature in the top 20 list of songs played on the occasion.
The list, compiled by online music service Spotify, shows that the most popular song played by users of the service was Psy's smash hit “Gangnam Style”.
The track recently passed a billion views on YouTube so it has definitely been one of the tracks to define 2012.
In addition to its success on YouTube, the track has also enjoyed immense success in the charts. It has sold more than 4 million copies around the world and with the song, Psy has become the first K-pop artist to score a number one in the UK.
According to the chart compiled by Spotify, “Gangnam Style” had twice as many plays as the tracks that took the number two position which was “Diamonds” by Rihanna.
