Taylor Swift Blank Space video hits a billion views
Taylor Swift's video for her song Blank Space has become the latest to reach a billion views on Vevo.
As well as achieving this impressive milestone, it has also broken the record for the fastest video to reach the billion mark, doing so in just less than eight months.
In true Taylor Swift fashion, she took to Twitter to thank fans for getting her to the milestone. She said: "The Blank Space video just became the fastest to hit 1 billion views on @vevo & Bad Blood is #1 at pop radio for a 3rd week. THANKS GUYS!!!"
Swift has been in the limelight recently over her very public denouncement of Apple for their initial decision to not pay artists royalties for the use of their music during the free trial of their new streaming platform Apple Music. As well as standing up for the rights of herself and other artists, this seems to have had the nice side effect of creating a positive image of Swift in the media which seems to have lead to the increase in video views.
Swift seems to be a very media savvy business woman who has a high level of control over the image she portrays. She also has a healthy sense of humour and isn't afraid to show it, as is in evidence in the Blank Space music video and that has made her the music business' sweetheart – for the moment at least.
In reaching the billion views mark, Swift joins artists including Psy with Gangnam Style and Justin Bieber with Baby.
