The honeymoon seems to be over for Zayn Malik and Naughty Boy after the former One Direction singer took to Twitter to tell the producer to "stop pretending we're friends".

The pair had been working together on music prior to Malik’s departure from One Direction and in the weeks following the shock announcement there were many cross words between Naughty Boy and Malik’s former band mates. This was perpetuated by the fact that Malik cited his reasons for leaving the band as him wanting to live as a normal twenty-something.

The fact that Zayn had been working on solo material and continued to do so straight away after the departure rubbed many One Direction fans, and his former band mates up the wrong way.
Now it seems like the pair’s relationship has broken down after Malik angrily tweeted: "@NaughtyBoyMusic you fat joke stop pretending we're friends no one knows you."

He continued: "Someone learned how to upload a video... maybe now he should learn how to use logic ha you ain't s**t but a faker."

This outburst seems to have come out of the blue and has shocked many as the pair’s professional partnership goes way back to his One Direction days. Naughty Boy worked with Malik on material for the band’s fourth album although none of the songs ended up making the final version of the record. It is thought that the material was however revisited as part of their work on Malik’s solo material.

No one knows quite why the two seems to have fallen out or the effect that it may have on Zayn’s solo career. It has recently been hinted at that he may not be able to release solo material for up to two years due to an agreement that allowed him to leave the band.
