The Struts catchy new single release 'Primadonna Like Me'

A new primadonna is in town, and it comes in the form of The Struts' new single, Primadonna Like Me. And just like an all-consuming, zany and bombastic primadonna, this song bursts into the room with glitter and grit.

“‘Primadonna Like Me’ was written about my stage character, my alter ego, “ frontman Luke Spiller explains.

It’s this completely deluded guy running around his small town, all dressed to the nines - a full-on 21st century dandy going around saying “Don’t you know who I think I am?

Easily one of the more catchy songs of the year, The Struts go back to basics with this old-school rock track for the modern age. Oozing with swagger like the Jagger and tones like the Stones, it takes listeners back to an era rich in daring guitar riffs and sing along choruses.

The 70s are truly back with this single, but it still has an ever-so-subtle modern hum to it – a vivid reminder that this band was only founded in 2012. Consisting of four stellar musicians - lead singer Luke Spiller, guitarist Adam Slack, Jed Elliott on bass and Gethin Davies pounding away at the drums - The Struts prove that old can definitely be gold, and fresh.

It’s been a good two years since The Struts graced the airwaves with some new songs, and it was absolutely worth the wait. Where their previous single, Body Talks, had a strong blues-inspired twang to it, the band’s latest offering shows just how versatile and mature the group can be. Both these foot-stomping singles will feature on their highly-anticipated new album to be released later this year.

Having made their earth-shattering debut in 2016 with the album, Everybody Wants, The Struts soon garnered attention from various big-hitters including The Rolling Stones, The Who, Guns N’ Roses and Mötley Crüe. It wasn’t long before the band appeared alongside the legendary rock bands that largely inspired their sound. Their climb up the rock-of-fame ladder was meteoric to say the least. Not too shabby for a band founded in Derbyshire, England…

Following closely on the release of their new album, The Struts will also be embarking on an extensive US headline tour, while several more UK tour dates will be announced soon.
