The sessions for the Dan Reed Network’s second studio album since their comeback two years ago took place in studios across the world and broke new ground by inviting fans to be a part of the recording process from start to finish.

The resulting songs will form the follow up to 2016’s Fight Another Day and will be released as Origins on November 23rd via Dan Reed’s own label, Zero One Entertainment.

The funk/rock group, known for hits such as Rainbow Child and Tiger In A Dress, saw great success in the late 80s/early 90’s with their Nile Rogers-produced second album, Slam, performing well in Europe. This led to the group being invited to support acts such as Bon Jovi and The Rolling Stones on mega tours of the continent. Shortly after the end of the tour to support third album The Heat (1991) the band decided to go their separate ways, beginning a long hiatus in 1993 which only came to an end with a New Year’s Eve reunion show in their hometown of Portland, Oregon in 2012.

Since then the band, led by thoughtful, charismatic frontman Dan Reed, have gone from strength to strength with Fight Another Day proving a creative high point. For the new record, they welcomed audiences to locations including Manchester’s Blueprint Studios, The Power Station in New York and Nia Studios in Portland. The fans got to witness the Network separately recording guitars, bass, drums and vocals before joining in with the recording of backing vocals. A classic Dan Reed Network song was also reworked in the studio on each occasion.

The process is illustrated in the music video for the first song taken from the record, Fade To Light, recorded at Blueprint in Manchester. Frontman Dan Reed says of the project, “What I think really translates throughout is how having an audience in the room fed the band with a unique energy that pushed us to expand our creative horizons. We’re thrilled with the results.”
