It’s been half a decade since 1990s grunge icons Alice In Chains (AIC) released an album. But, as with most good things in life, it’s absolutely worth the wait. And as a reward for our patience, the band has given us another music video, this time for their track Never Fade.

The video, which continues on the storyline featured in the May video release for The One You Know, is just as trippy and dark as the first. Featuring lots of goo and Red Riding Hood-esque imagery, it’s a video worthy of a second (and even third) watch. Why would you want to watch it again and again? Because it’s just so freakin’ weird and leaves you begging for more. However, AIC still seem to have a few more musical episodes in store for us. “The full story will gradually be revealed. For now, check out what we love to do best – play live and tell a story with our music,” vocalist/guitarist William DuVall says. Well, we can live with that…for now.

Straight off their sixth studio album, Rainier Fog, the latest offering from the band that gave us rebel anthems like Man In A Box, Dirt and our personal favourite Rooster, is everything you could possibly want from a band that’s managed to survive over 20 years of change and tragedy. Having lost two of their original members in the early 2000s, founding member Jerry Cantrell could’ve easily stored his guitar away for good. Thankfully, he didn’t.

With their latest album, Alice In Chains take a step back and return to their 1990s glory. The slightest inkling of pop influence, previously found so strongly in their more recent albums, is gone and the purity that is Alice In Chains is taking front stage in every song.

Following the album’s release in August this year, it has managed to race its way to the top of the charts. The band has also been touring the globe to bring their latest sounds to the masses, and they’ve been welcomed with rock fists and chanting crowds without fail.

Alice In Chains has managed to change with the times, while still holding on tightly to the very core of the group. They still have strong political and social commentary drilling through their songs, making it hard for anyone to ignore. And they still have that grinding, grungy sound that makes Alice In Chains so distinctly iconic. It’s Alice In Chains with a modern flair to it. And we like it.
